Message from the University of Zululand

The University of Zululand hereby expresses its appreciation to Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife as partners for the conservation initiatives of 2020. The University of Zululand has registered research projects with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife with a view of introducing postgraduate students in the conservation practice. It is hoped that our collaboration will ensure the protection of threatened plant and animal species so that they can still be available for our future generations. Although the COVID-19 pandemic slowed down the collaboration activities for 2020, it is commendable that a virtual symposium has been arranged because of the condition. This Symposium clearly will contribute to the strategies to conserve plant and animal biodiversity. Discussions on the protection and conservation of plants and animals is more significant in this era because of factors that threaten not only their biodiversity but also their existence caused by climate change. I wish all the best and the fruitful interactions to the delegates in The Conservation Symposium.
